Andreas Yangopoulos

Andreas Yangopoulos was born in Cyprus. He studied the violin and music theory at the National Conservatory in Nicosia and later furthered his studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 1962 he was awarded first price at the Festival of Arts at Morley College with his composition "Fugue for string quartet". 

In 1970 he was awarded a scholarship to study at Trinity College London where he became a Fellow in composition. He has taught the violin and classroom music in several schools in London. Some of his compositions have been performed by different music ensembles in London and Cyprus. Apart from a few tonal works, the majority of his composition use atonality in a personal idiom.
