Larκos Larκou

Larkos Larkou was born on February 6th, 1973. He comes from Kondea village, Famagusta.

1993-2001: Studies at the Department of Music Studies in the University of Athens and had his masters on music anthropology and on the traditional Cypriot song. He attended classes of composition and orchestration.

He works systematically on phonetic and singing (teaching and performance), on the performance of plucked instruments (guitar, lute, bouzouki, ud, mandolin, etc), on music technology (he owns a recording studio) and on body awareness and contact improvisation in co-operation with the team of “Echo Arts”.

He teaches music within Secondary Education, drama school, music Lyceum etc.

He founds the world music bands “Songs of the world” and “Kyprogenia”.

He is a founding member of the “Mousika Niata Kyprou” (member of Jeunesses Musicales International), of which he had been leader during the summer “Ethno Camp” in 2005 and 2006.

Since 2001, he has been composing music for the theatre and he has worked with TH.O.C. (Cyprus Theatre Organisation), the “Satiriko” Theatre, the “Skala” Theatre, the “Antidote” Theatre etc as a composer or/and a performer taking participation in more than 20 plays, like “Yerma”, “Three faints (Three short Chekhov comedies)”, “The Vagina Monologues”, “An Awkward Afternoon”, “The Little Prince”, “The house”, “Shut up and do your job”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Vasilis Michaelides”, “A Summer’s Night Dream”, “Look Back in Anger”, “Frogs”, “The king’s New Clothes”, “Once Upon a…Box” etc.
